after school programs
Photography Program
On Tuesday and Thursday afternoons students have an opportunity to work with a professional photography to learn about digital photography. Students learn about the camera and discover their hidden talents. After a few weeks in the program students are allowed to borrow the cameras and begin documenting their lives. Our photography program is so successful that our students have won awards and some have had their work on display in the Norwalk Museum. Community Organizations, such as United Way and Fairfield County Community Foundation, have called on our students to take pictures for their year-end reports.
S.A.T. Prep Program
At Briggs we don't think anything should stand in your way if you want to go to college. We offer an S.A.T. Prep class on Tuesday and Thursday, free to our enrolled students. This opportunity expands their opportunity for success.
Drama Club
We are fortunate to have a former actor on our staff and he works with students on improv as well as play reading. This is a new opportunity that is still being developed.
Art Club
Many of our students are very artistic and there is just not enough time in their schedules to take a second art class. This after school opportunity is presently focusing on portraits. The class runs in four week cycles and the focus will be changing depending upon student interest.
Academic Tutorials
When students are absent from school learning time is lost; our academic tutorials provide students with an opportunity to reclaim that time. Teachers are available to work with students Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday to meet their academic needs. Many students take advantage of this opportunity.
